Lindsay Smith

Lindsay Smith is an Assistant Professor in Science, Technology & Innovation in the Borderlands at the School for the Future of Innovation in Society at Arizona State University. In her work as a medical anthropologist, she has examined the use and utility of science and technology in addressing impunity, violence, and democratic transition. Through work with human rights social movements in Latin America, she explores how communities have materially and epistemologically remade technologies like genetics to articulate new forms of justice that exceed traditional discourses of citizen science or forensic practice. She leads the STSborderlands working group which brings together scholars from across the Mexican Borderlands to rethink the relationship between science, technology, colonialism, and place.
